First canvas!!

First canvas painting!!

This is my first ever canvas painting!!
I used Arcylic paint and I had to use it quite thick for the paint to look better on the canvas.

My influence was obviously my previous posts about the candy skulls, I did have a go with chalk but the lines weren't very crisp so I tried it with the paint, unfortunately for me, my brushes suck!! So the lines aren't very clean at all. :S:S
I know that this isn't perfect but like I said it was my first, so I only used the smaller canvas which was a shame because if it was bigger I could have easily put more detail in it.

Practice makes perfect!! So i'll have to keep practicing.  :):)

All in all I think I did pretty well, and I will deffinately be using this media again!!

My way

My Candy Skull

This is a chalk drawing I did of the candy/sugar skull. I chose chalk to do it because I like how quickly it can be done and how soft it makes the image look, I chose to do it in black and white because this was a first attempt.....ever. I used the black and white just so I could get used to the shapes and where everything could go.

The hair is my favourite bit!!! I love the waves and the curves, it's really pretty. Also, the eyes are the eye-catchers and these will be the bits that I carry on to a more colourful candy skull i'll do a bit later. The web in the nose looks quite nice too so maybe that's another element i'll use.

I think it turned out pretty well, it was a lot of fun to play around with and you can be really open with design on the face, it was a lot of fun so this deffinately wont be the last. :D:D
Zeus helped and got black chalk on his nose. :):)

Newspaper birdies

Newspaper Birds

These little birdies were part of a project at college that I did.
These are made from newspaper and masking tape, then painted with white arcylic paint, also to make the legs and feet I used wire, So keep that in mind when trying these little beauties out.

Well we got a bird project at college and this technique was shown to us, i'm not too sure if it was influenced by another artist or if it was my teachers clever idea. It's very easy to do, just roll the newspaper into a long sausagey kinda shape, I had to bend it and twist it to make it a birdy shape, keep it tight!!! If you don't it will be seriously difficult to wrap with the masking tape, which is the next step of corse!! :P:P  Keep wrapping 'till you happy with the shape and try and get a bit of a point for the beak and a flat-ish bit at the other end for a tail.
Then just paint it wite. I used arylic paint because it's so thick and it covers better.

I think these were pretty amazing!! I did three to make up a little collection, they're super easy to make and I think they're really successful, I think they'd look really cute sitting up on high shelf, or you could stick them in some little bird cages. whutever!!!!

The possibilities are endless with them.
